Making decisions about sustainable development and climate change mitigation is no longer the sole role of governments. There is increasing recognition to a more inclusive concept of governance, which includes the contributions of government, the private sector, and civil society. Energy security issues, water scarcity and environment pollution calls for these three entities to work together to mitigate those risks in the communities in which they operate. Generally, mitigation options that improve productivity of resource use whether energy, water, or land, will yield positive benefits across all three dimensions of sustainable development.
